Biotechnology is a rapidly developing academic discipline that studies the use of living organisms, cells, and biomolecular processes for the creation of products and technologies in medicine, agriculture, industry, and environmental protection. The discipline combines elements of molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, and engineering, and emphasizes both fundamental knowledge and applied skills.

Students will be introduced to key concepts such as fermentation processes and biomanufacturing and will explore applications ranging from organic acids and vitamin biosynthesis and vaccine development to sustainable agriculture and bioremediation. Special attention is given to microbial biotechnology.
