The discipline "Membrane Biology" was developed to the students with the basic knowledge of biochemistry and molecular biology to explain a role of the lipids, cellular membrane and membrane proteins in the function of cells and mammalian organisms. The discipline forms students’ complex competencies in the field of lipid chemistry, biological processes with participation of the lipids and membrane proteins, the usage of the lipid properties in scientific studies of different macromolecules including functional and structural studies of membrane proteins, and also for processing, analysis and synthesis of information about modern achievements in structural biology. Study the discipline "Membrane Biology" provides the students the modern knowledge about lipids’ chemistry and biology as well as about the main classes of membrane proteins and their function in the organism function. The course highlights the advantages of the integrated interdisciplinary approach in solving problems of molecular and structural biology.
