The course is aimed at strengthening the students’ knowledge in statistical methods and their applications in the area of biology. This course will help students develop fundamental understanding in statistics, solving relevant problems, and apply this knowledge in areas of biology.

This introductory-level biostatistics course is dedicated for graduate students in the department of biology, whose specializing in “Bioengineering”, “Molecular biology”, “Chemistry”, “Chemical origins of life”, “medicine”, and “Biophysics”. It requires no previous background in statistics and it assumes only the knowledge of algebra at the mathematical level. This is a graduate course where minimizing the amount of mathematical formulation, nevertheless, giving complete explanations of all important concepts is the guiding principle. The course will help develop the knowledge in the following areas of biostatistics: Probability and Probability Distributions, Estimation, Hypothesis Testing and Inference, and Regression and Correlation Methods.
